Questing with Puzzles

In DS on November 28, 2007 at 12:34 am

I got my hands on Puzzle Quest yesterday. They had four copies at Future Shop and due to their method of stacking different games behind others (like at music stores), I missed them all when I checked last weekend. Overall, I’m a bit dissapointed. After playing the PC version, that has a whole lot more screen real estate compared to the DS, It feels as if everything is stuffed and hidden. But it’s still Puzzle Quest gameplay-wise so it’s ok.

It’s here. it’s (finally) done. Enjoy.

It’s Done.

Yeah, it’s done. But it’s too big. I’m passing it through iMovie to format it for YouTube.

Another addiction? and Review News

In DS, Like a Drug, Wii, Windows on a Mac on November 23, 2007 at 11:02 pm

I’m looking around for a good pick-up-and-play DS game. I convinced myself that I shouldn’t buy Sim City Societies right now. It was a painful decision since I am a huge fan of the series and I really wanted to know what it was about. But, I’ve concluded that It’s not a perfect game and there are chances I won’t get hooked on it enough to make it worth $50. So now I’m looking for a game I can enjoy during those times when I don’t have much else to do. That game seems to be Puzzle Quest. I tried the PC demo yesterday and I like the game play. Think of it as an RPG with 2-player Vs. Bejewled as battle gameplay. I got hooked on it. I’m not yet sure if I’ll like it like I like Elite Beat Agents (which I started playing again a bit) but since it’s been out for a while, I hope to be able to get a nice discount compared to it’s launch price. And now, the review. I’ve worked on it a bit tonight. Started doing the voice recording and I’m already well into it. I don’t expect any major delays this weekend (although, I haven’t bought Puzzle Quest yet) so if all goes well, it should be done by Sunday.

I’m Trying to Make Something Here!

In Apple, Wii on November 21, 2007 at 11:32 pm

Busy, busy week here in “Real Life.” Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to either play or work on my review for Super Mario Galaxy much this week. Oh, and I’d still like it if someone were to kill (figuratively) the moron that inverted command-z and w in Final Cut Pro. I probably lost 15 to 20 minutes because I forgot how to restore my timeline after I accidentally closed it because I tried to repair a mistake with Undo.

Welcome to Hell. How May I Record Your Video?

In Mac, Wii on November 18, 2007 at 11:13 pm

The script is done. And the recording is nearly finished… But it wasn’t fun to do. Apparently there is only a select few compression formats that will both record at a good frame-rate and let me play with little lag. H.264 gave a little lag but recorded at what seemed as 1 frame per second. I realized I forgot to change the format from H.264, oh, about towards when I was done recording. I finally found a decent format. The quality is OK and I’ll have to render the video every time I want to see it in Final Cut Express but at least it’ll make for a decent screen capture.

Review Time!

In Wii on November 17, 2007 at 11:03 am

I’ve beaten Galaxy! Granted, I haven’t played every galaxy and I’m far from finding every star. I’ll finish playing the few galaxies I haven’t visited and start working on the script and the screen captures for my review.

Wow.

It might just be Japan, but it’s still shocking. In the month of October, OS X, and I can’t believe I’m going to write this, had a larger marketshare OS-wise than Windows in Japan. That is simply amazing.

Oh, I got a call from my EB Games : Super Mario Galaxy’s in and I’m leaving soon to get it!

Sound Cancelling Synchronization

In iTunes/iPod on November 9, 2007 at 11:53 pm

I downloaded yesterday two Rob Dougan songs with the Wi-Fi Music Store on my iPod touch. Only one, Furious Angels, made it through to my computer. The other one, Will You Follow Me?, not only did not sync, it’s not even on my iPod touch anymore! Obviously, I sent a message to Apple about this. I hope they answer quickly.

Mii Time

In Wii on November 8, 2007 at 3:33 pm

The long awaited Check Mii Out Channel (Wasn’t the first launch day suppose to be in April or May?) is coming Remembrance Day, November 11th. I can’t wait to post some of my Miis including a few from LOST, including Ben, and my John Stewart Mii. … What? I got bored a couple of times! And chances are, with this channel, I might get bored a bit more often.

Adobe AIR is an Adobe platform that let’s people create apps that run both in Windows and on Mac. One of these apps is called Bee.

I’ve always been having formating problems with posting in my blog under Safari : I need to use HTML to do the formating all the time. But now with Bee, built with AIR, I can use this ‘lil app to post on my blog. Hopefully it works.

No spell check, though. :( Sorry far ne speeling erores :)

I got my Wii-mote jackets today. I haven’t had the chance to play with them yet but they do feel comfortable in the hand.

Holy Shit!

In Mac on November 3, 2007 at 2:24 pm

And I don’t use that term lightly. I was doing a Spotlight search for some files on a project I was doing and one of the files that came up was a image of a GarageBand project opened in Garage Band. I use Quick Look and it definitely looks like an image file (I could open iPhoto with it). But when I opened the info pane, the file was the actual Garage Band file. Leopard took an image of the file open in Garage Band! My brain had exploded by now but before I can completely freak out and call Apple the Computer God, I decided to try it out with other GB files. They were older GB files that never got opened in Leopard (then again, I haven’t opened the first file yet either but it was a GB 08 file.) so I opened an older one, re-saved it and while it wasn’t an image like the first, the info given by Quick Look did not show the usual “guitar on page” icon but an image of that file, opened in Garage Band. Apple, you never stop amazing me!

Do Not Play Until End Of Book

In DS, Mac, Wii on November 1, 2007 at 8:36 pm

November already! In a few days, I, and many others, will be able to play the Wii flagship game, Super Mario Galaxy. I’m looking ahead to what other games I’ll play before the end of the year. Right now I’m going through the final Harry Potter book – What can I say? I love the series like many others younger and older than me. – which came out in French only last Friday. I’m avoiding getting any new games before I finish reading but I do have some picks in mind.

Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) : The game isn’t out yet but I can pretty much say it now : You should get this game. It looks amazing and, hell, it’s a new Mario game.

Zack & Wiki (Wii) : A game that makes journalists arrange a campaign to entice people to buy it must be good.

Sim City Societies (PC) : Oh, Societies. I’m actually scared about this game. I’ve been playing Sim City since Sim City 2000 and while I’ll admit that I’m far from being a hardcore player, or a very good one for that matter, I love the game and how it works. The problem with the latest version is that I still have yet to grasp what exactly there is to play in it. It seems… too open-ended. That’s why I’m scared about buying it but, at the same time, I’m intrigued and I am a fan of the series. Let’s hope that the devs that are taking Maxis’ place in the development of their star franchise don’t screw up. … And I hope Maxis finishes Spore soon. Now there’s a game to watch for!

The Legend of Zelda : Phantom Hourglass (DS) maybe with Wind Waker (GameCube) : I don’t know… I just don’t feel really in a Zelda mood lately. Let’s just say I’m not sold yet.

Other games to note :

Pirates of the Caribbean Online (Mac and PC) : Just thought I’d put this in since it’s free (except for extra features that come at the cost of a monthly fee). I’ve played a bit yesterday. It’s OK but it’s also much too early for me to give any recommendation as to if it’s worth your time.

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii) : This used to be a “must buy” for me until I realized that in the end, it’s just more mini-games!
