Buy a Zune, get Unlimited P2P Music!

In iTunes/iPod on November 9, 2006 at 8:57 pm

Yes you heard me! Seems MS is giving cash to Universal:

“We felt that any business that’s built on the bedrock of music we should share in,” said Doug Morris, chief executive of Universal, owned by French media giant Vivendi.

Mac Rumors: Microsoft to pay Universal for every Zune sold

Translation: “We’re getting screwed by P2P and we need the cash”

Well I guess that means if MS is paying the “P2P bill” when I buy my Zune, that means I have a free pass for unlimited music… and that’s without any monthly fees!! Seems this is how people at the MacRumors forums are looking at this and may I say good for them: this is just wrong and I’m kinda surprised that MS would do this (it’s not like Apple has too). A plausible reason from the forums is for their music sharing feature. Regardless, this is wrong and I invite Zune users to get all the music they want online for free (Well, just music from Universal, just to be on the safe side). When the lawyers come knocking at your door, just say Microsoft already covered your tab.
